The Institute of Space Technology (IST) is located in Islamabad. The edifice of the campus is overwhelming. So is the quality of education that is provided to not just national but international students as well. The students get the best environment as they get many facilities like state of the art

residence, fitness room, computing and 24 hours internet, mosque etc. Furthermore, for co-curricular activities, the institute often conducts workshops and seminars in its auditorium which is fully equipped according to modern standards. As an added feature for the convenience of the students, the institute employs trained teaching assistants, who advise students all through their course. The Information Resource Centre (IRC) is supplied with a collection of more than 3500 books, 500 references and over 40 periodicals apart from the online resources. Such remarkable features are needed for intense research and analysis.

Institute Founded

The Institute of Space Technology (IST) was founded in 2002 by the Pakistan Space Agency (SUPARCO). It is a federally chartered degree awarding Institute approved by The Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

Degrees and Faculties

The specialization of Institute of Space Technology is engineering, and following are the six faculties in which the institute imparts this education.

• Aeronautics and Astronautics
• Communication Systems Engineering
• Materials Science & Engineering
• Humanities & Sciences
• Research & Development
• National Centre for Remote Sensing & Geo Informatics

The Institute mainly offers bachelors and masters programs apart from Split or Linked Graduate Programs in collaboration with foreign universities, with the motive of providing an opportunity to students to get foreign degrees economically.

Undergraduate degree programs are offered in the following three disciplines:

• Aerospace Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Materials Science & Engineering

Whereas Master degree programs are offered in the following:

• Wireless communication Engineering
• Image Processing
• Aerospace Engineering

At the moment PhD is a proposed project at the institute.

Specialized Laboratories

The institute has fully equipped, modern laboratories namely the Aerodynamics Lab, EMF & Microwaves Lab, Structural Dynamics Lab, Antenna & Propagation Lab, Propulsion Lab, Optical Communication Lab, R&D Shops and CAD/ CAM Lab.
