The Delhi Gate got its name as Delhi because it is situated on a location from where it directly faces the Delhi City of India. Another gate constructed by the Mughals in the India calls Lahori Gate because that gate faces towards Lahore. Delhi Gate was constructed in the era of third Mughal Emperor Akbar. This gate is located on the east side of Lahore city. There are so many other historical places near Delhi gate. Delhi gate is one of the most populated areas of Lahore. On the left side just after entering the Delhi gate  there is a building called Shahi Humam also known as Wazir Khan Hammam. A passage that goes towards Akbari Gate from Delhi Gate is called Shahi Guzargah. There are number of shops on the both sides of Guzargah that makes this passage so crowded. On the left side of shahi guzargah, after crossing the two gates a beautiful and glorious mosque can be seen named as Masjid Wair Khan. Masjid Wazir Khan itself is a historical place and it is famous because of its tile work and decoration. This mosque was built in the era of Aurang zeb Alamgir a Mughal Emperor.

Delhi gate and its surroundings are very crowded because of shops and market that are established on the both sides of the shahi guzargah. Administration is now planning to take steps to remove these encroachments so these Mghal constructions could be kept in original form.
