Recalling the days of my childhood, when the sun began to set in the evening, everyone was in hurry to play more games knowingly that they will be soon called by their mothers to come home for the dinner. The famous evening game was Lukkan Mitti (Hide and Seek). The area was decided to play the game and the rules were decided depending upon the area where the game was being played. All the players mutually decide the area before starting game. While playing in street it was not allowed to hide in someone’s home. To hide behind the main doors of the houses was allowed. While playing in homes, it was not allowed to go on the roof or outside the home.

To decide the turn, PUGAN PUGGAI rule was used, where three players join their hand and place hands’ palm upward or downward. The player with odd hand position wins the toss and the last non-winning player has to seek other players. He has to go to the decided point and close his eyes. He loudly shouts counting from 1 to 10 and then loudly asks “May I come?” If the other players keep quiet, he might proceed to seek them but if any of the players say no then he counts and asks for the permission again, until all the players keep quiet while asking. The player starts seeking the others. Some players love to deceive and change their places. While others keep quiet and don’t leave their positions. Seeker kept on seeking the hidden players. When he finds any one of them he loudly speaks TEELO. After that he starts finding the other players. Seeker turns doesn’t end until he finds all the hidden players. The first man searched will have to give the next turn of seeker. Another interesting moment of the game is when seeker is caught by the hidden player. The hidden player loudly speaks ANDA PHUS while touching the seeker without his notice. By doing this, hidden player saves himself to give the turn of seeker. All the other players come out after this and the seeker has to give the seeker’s turn again.
